散策・東京丸の内界隈

　土曜日の午後に

A Walk After Saturday Lunch in Marunouchi Area, Tokyo

土曜日の午後のささやかな集まりの後で、丸の内界隈を歩いた。
東京在住ながら滅多に来ることのない場所なので、ビルの谷間や
休日の歩行者専用道路を旅行者気分で眺め、薫風に気分一新。
思いのほか緑が深い。都心の景観は公共財産だと痛感した。

After lunch on Saturday, I walked in Marunouchi
Area near Tokyo Station. Being a citizen of this
Megapolis, I seldom come to this area.
I　explored the town like a tourist, through the
valley of stately buildings and tidy streets
occupied by relaxing week-end visitors.
The wind of May was cool and refreshing.
I believe the scenery of the heart of Tokyo is
the public fortune.

地下鉄東西線「大手町」で降りて地上に出た。日比谷通りだ。
目の前は皇居のお堀。週末だけあって人通りも車の数も少ない。
I got off the subway at Otemachi Station of
Tozai Subway Line and went up to the ground.

東側には東京駅がちらりと見える。このあたりの街路樹は、
豊かに茂り風を鳴らす。
You can have a glance at Tokyo Station
in the east. The wind was blowing through
roadside trees.

日比谷通りから二重橋方面を望む。

反対側には東京駅正面、丸の内中央口が遠望できる、行幸通り。
On the other side is a view of the central gate
of Tokyo Station at the end of Miyuki Street.

クルマの流れが途切れた瞬間。昼前の静寂。
The moment when the stream of cars stopped.
The silence before noon.

和田倉門交差点付近。
Crossroads near Wadakura-mon

道端に留まる観光バス。天蓋の無い二階建て部分に乗ってみたい。
A sightseeing bus at a roadside.
I would really like to ride on the top deck!

バスに飛び乗って屋根から東京を見よう！

目指すビルは「明治生命館」。この地下にレストランがある。
I walked up to Meiji-Seimei Building.
An underground restaurant is in it.

ビルの壁に【重要文化財】のプレートがある。
A plaque reads this building is [an important cultural property].

真鍮の枠で出来た街灯の点るところを見てみたい。
The brass frame of city light. Let me see
the light at night.

飾り窓のアーチと彫刻に暫し見とれる。
The arch of a decorative window is fascinating.

この入り口から入って良いのだろうかといぶかしみつつ。
Is it really the entrance into this building
to the restaurant?

古めかしいビル内部。
The inside of the old building.

地階には、ロケーションの割に庶民的なステーキハウスがあった。
On the underground floor, there sure was
a restraint. It was a steakhouse with the common
touch for Marunouchi Area.

食後、別の出口から外へ。丸の内仲通りに出た。
After lunch I went out from another exit to find
myself in Marunouchi Naka-dori Steet.

休日の仲通りは歩行者天国。
On weekends, Naka-dori Street is pedestrians’ paradise.

薫風の下でリラックスする人々。
Relaxing people in the wind in May.

どの店構えも洗練されている。
Shops are neatly abreast in the same style.

仲通りを離れ、行幸通りから東京駅へ。
Away from Naka-dori Street,I walked
along Miyuki-dori Street to Tokyo Station.

周囲のビルと東京駅舎の新旧が魅力の光景。

「日本工業倶楽部会館・三菱UFJ信託銀行本店ビル」
The building of The Industry Club of Japan
and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank

「日本工業倶楽部会館」南側壁面は1997年、建物が再建
される時に保存された。屋上に坑夫と織女の像が見える。
The south side of the building was preserved
when the whole building was reconstructed in 1
997. You can see the sculpture of a coal miner
and a weaver up above the roof.

永代通り沿い、大手町タワーの足元に拡がる「大手町の森」

At the foot of Otemachi Tower along Eitai-dori
Street, where is a quarter called “The Forest of
Otemachi,” quoted from the website of Tokyo

千葉県君津市の土壌や植物を育成し、移植し、関東近郊の山から
集められた木々が根付いた。都市と自然の再生　より引用

東京駅から至近距離にナチュラルな雑木林が息付く。
This is a living forest only a few minutes'
walk from Tokyo Station.

ビルと石垣と樹木の統合。
