We started walking toward Grenen / グレーネンへ歩き始めた

A lane off-road was sandy / メインロードを外れると砂地になった
We were taking the direction instinctively (sometimes with the help of googlemap) / 時々グーグルマップに頼りながらも、当てずっぽうに歩く
A strange thing ahead of the road / 目の前に不思議なものが現れた

We couldn't figure it out at the time. / その時は判読できず。
On the top of the hill, the viewof the ocean was observed. / 丘のてっぺんからは広々とした海が開けた
Glittering sea beyond the field / 草原の向こうに光る海
Later we found out it was an old fashioned beacon (of 17century) / 後にこれは旧式の灯台(17世紀）だと判明
The basket hanging from the end of the lod was the lanp in which light was burning. It was a flip-up beacon. / 柄の先にぶら下がる（石炭入りの？）ランプに明かりを灯して跳ね上げ式に高く掲げる仕組み
We follwed the curving road. / カーヴする道を辿る。

Mette of Odense appeared so suddenly! She had a lodge for holiday in Skagen. / 突然オデンセのメッテ登場。スケーエンの別荘に来たとのこと。

We arrived at the rest house of Grenen / グレーネンの休息所に到着
We started walking over the hill / 丘を越えて歩き始める
Finally we came to the ocean. / やっと海の見えるところまできた。
People were walkint to the end of the peninsula. / 皆が半島の先端を目指して歩いている。
To the northend of the peninsula / 半島の北端へ
It was quite hard to walk on the sand. / 砂地を歩くのはなかなか大変。

Better to walk in wather barefoot than to walk in shoes on the sand. / 裸足で水辺を歩く方が靴を履いて砂の上よりラク。
Waves, waves, waves... / 波、波、波・・・
A baby seal was washed ashore. / アザラシの仔が打ち上げられていた。.
It was unable to go back to the sea by itself. / 自力では海に戻れない。
It was waiting for its mother. / 母アザラシを待っている。
A man was protecting it by driving other people away. / 一人の男が人間たちを追い払っていた。
A huge space of sand / 広い砂浜
SANDORMEN for those who don't want to walk across the sandy beach. / 砂浜を延々歩きたくない人向けの乗り物
I coudn't help looking back to the south again and again. / 何度も南を振り返って見ずにはいられなかった。
Toward Baltic Sea. / バルト海へ向かう
We found a sand castle. / 砂の城発見。
Really a western style castle made of sand. / 確かに西洋風の砂の城だ。
Finally we came to the tip of the peninsula. / 遂に半島の先っぽまで来た。
Everybody got excited. / 誰もが大興奮。
The left (west) side waves were coming from the Northern Atlantic Ocean. / 左側（西）の波は北大西洋から打ち寄せる。
The right (east) side waves were coming from Baltic Sea. / 右側（東）の波はバルト海から打ち寄せる。
The west and the east meet here. / 東西の海がここで出会う。
Beyond the tip of the peninsula, both seas encouter and merge. / 半島の先っぽで両方の海が出会って混ざる。
People in bashing suits bravely walked into the merged gulf streams. / 水着を着た人々は大胆にも両方の海流の混ざるところへ歩み出す。
At least most people put off their shoes and walked on as far as possible. / 少なくとも大抵の人が靴を脱ぎできるだけ遠くまで歩いてゆく。
This is not the beach for bathing but the one for watching the wonder of the nature. / ここは海水浴の砂浜ではなく、自然の驚異に感嘆する場所。

An illusion that you could walk on for ever. / どこまでも海を歩いていけるような錯覚
