At 7:25, March 23, Blue Peaks Lodge, Queenstown. Waiting for a car to pick up us for a walking in Routeburn Track /3/23 7:25 a.m. クイーンズタウンのホテルBlue Peaks Lodgeにて、ルートバーントラックへ行く車の迎えを待つ。
On the way to Routeburn Track, we stopped at the road side to watch the dawn of Lake Wakatipu. /ルートバーントラックへの途上、路肩に車を止めてワカティプ湖の夜明けを眺める。
The daybreak over the mountain ridge along Lake Wakatipu./ ワカティプ湖の岸に沿う山脈の背後に朝の光が差す。
Steep mountains beyond the lake were covered with snow, glistening in silver./ 湖の背後の高い山々は雪をかぶって銀色に輝いていた。
The starting point of Routeburn Track. We were going to walk about 14km. / ルートバーントラック入口（今回の歩行距離は往復約14km）
At the visitor center, there were several kinds of signboards of instruction about the area and treking./ ビジターセンターにはこの地域の概要やトレッキング・登山に関する指標・警告等が丁寧に掲示してある。
If you are very lucky, you may be able to find a Mohua, a bird of South Island of NZ. / 幸運に恵まれればニュージーランド南島に固有の鳥モフアに出会えるかもしれない。
Warnings to survive in mountains. / 遭難防止・環境保全のための指示いろいろ。
It's quite interesting to read warnings and instructions on the posters./ ポスターの指示を読むのもなかなか面白い。照っても降っても、外気に身を晒すのが最も危険であると警告。
There are various kinds of endangered creatures in the woods of NZ. National Parks are the places to learn about them. / NZの絶滅危惧種について学ぶ格好の場所が国立公園だ。歩きながらいろいろな鳥の声を聞いた。
One of the rivers we went across right after our departure.There are routs to go over the mountains beyond the river./ 出発まもなく渡った川。川の向こうに見える山を踏破するルードもある。
Mosses on the fallen trees and rocks were very impressive./ 倒木や岩に生える苔が森を印象深い色彩に染めていた。
I watched mosses closely. /苔を側に寄ってじっくり拝見。
Such an elegant name as "Bridal Veil Bridge" over the river with the same name. It warns the danger. Quite symbolic, isn't it? / 「花嫁のヴェール橋」とは優雅な名前だが、この柵を越えると危険と警告。何やら象徴的な名称では...。
Flat tracks and up-downs recurred./ 平坦な道、アップダウンの激しい道などが繰り返す。
Mossy ground of the mountain. / 苔むす山肌。
We came across with various streams on the way. / 様々な渓流に出会う。
A rocky moutain stream. / 大きな岩のゴツゴツした沢。
Ferns in the woods of beech everywhere. / ブナ林のシダ。至るところに密生している。
We did not reach any peaks but on the way, we had a glance at the mountainous landscape. /今回のトレッキングコースには山頂からの眺めはなかったが、山中の景色を見晴らせるポイントもあった。
A comparatively huge stream in the mountain. Water was gushing down heavily./ 比較的大きな山中の川。奔流となって流れ下っていた。
The river runs through woods. A spectacular sight. I kept watching the waters for a long time. / 森の中を流れ下る川。その光景を長いあいだ見つめていた。
Mosses, furns, and trees. The green conbination fascinate us. / コケとシダと木々、緑色のコンビネーションは魅惑的だ。
Water looks green, too. What a dynamic stream it is!/ 緑といえば水の流れも緑色だ。なんともダイナミックな流れ。
a q uiet and peaceful stream in this spot. / この地点ではとても穏やかで静かな流れ。
We took a break at a clearing. We met other groups of walkers there. The man in the red outfit is our tour guide. He is a Japanese resident in NZ. Very efficient and knowledgeable person and a wonderful bilingual guide. / 開けた場所で休憩。別のグループにも会う。赤い上着の人は、私たちのガイド。NZ在住日本人でバイリンガル、優れた知識豊富な人だった。
A clearing, the goal of our walking this time. Very quiet and cool. / 今回のトレッキングのゴール地点である開墾地。非常に静かで、ひんやりした場所だった。
Mt. Sugar Cone. It enbodys the name. / シュガーコーン山。名は体を現す。
One of the lodges on the track. We had lunch here. / トラックの中に何箇所かあるロッジ。私たちはここでお弁当を食べた。
The beauty of ferns. If I had known well about ferns, perhaps Routeburn Truck might have been a gorgeous place for samples of ferns. / シダの美しさ。もし私にシダ類に関する知識があったなら、ルートバーントラックは素晴らしいシダの観察場所になっただろうに！
A river runnninng through a clearing. You can see a waterfall runnning down along the mountain surface in a distance. / 開墾地を流れる川。彼方の山の表面に沿って流れ落ちる滝が見える。
There are many types of walking courses in this area. You may take a few days to go across the mountains. Ours was the shortest. We walked only half a day but it was a very refreshing and inspiring track indeed. / この地域には多様なコースがある。数日かけて山脈を踏破する本格的な山歩きもできる。私たちのは最も短い半日コースだったけれど、気分爽快になり士気が上がった。
Watch the underground of the roots. / 木の根方の下を観察できる。
Can we call it a brook? /小川と呼べるような流れ。
A wide and peaceful stream at the end of our walking. / コースも終わりに近く、穏やかな広い流れ。
We've come back to the starting point again. We really had a a god walk. / 本当に良い山中の散策を終えて出発地点に戻った。

Small but a very attractive village of Glenorchy on the way to Routeburne Truck. / Routeburne Truckへの途上（お弁当を受け取りにガイドが寄った）グレノーキー。小さいけれどとても魅力的な場所だった。
